Art-A-Whirl is the largest open studio tour in the country, which happens annually throughout Northeast Minneapolis the third weekend of May. After being canceled outright in 2020 and held virtually in 2021, Art-A-Whirl makes its grand return this year, taking place from May 20 to 22.

Over 1,000 Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) member artists, galleries, and businesses participate across all of Northeast Minneapolis at over 60 locations. Art-A-Whirl is a fantastic way to connect with artists in their own spaces, enjoy demonstrations and interactive activities, listen to live music, and enjoy local restaurants and breweries.

Art-A-Whirl is free and open to the public.

Free Metro Transit Passes
Free Metro Transit passes for each day of Art-A-Whirl are now available for download on NEMAA's website. Everyone can use this pass to ride for free anywhere in the Metro Area May 20 to 22. Routes running in Northeast Minneapolis include the 4, 10, 11 and 32.  

VIP Parking
As a fundraiser to help support the production of Art-A-Whirl, NEMAA has reserved the lot at Quincy Hall in the heart of the Arts District and is selling day passes. Prices are as follows: Friday, 5 to 10 p.m.: $20 / $25 after May 15; Saturday, noon to 8 p.m.: $30 / $35 after May 15; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.: $20 / $25 after May 15

Trolleys
Sponsored by the NE Lions Club, the NE Arts District Trolleys are back this year, with a fourth trolley added for Saturday. The route is on the maps in the printed NEMAA Directory & Art-A-Whirl Guide, as well as listed online.
