MPR News Arts Reporter Marianne Combs joins Steve Seel and Jill Riley to talk about one event each for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday: Plainly Spoken — Minnesota Center for Book Arts is located on Washington Avenue in the big Open Book building. It just finished remodeling, and on Friday, it will celebrate its 30th anniversary year and new space with new exhibitions of book art: book bindings, paper making, letterpress printing, and other handmade work that deals with literature. There are also classes on the art of putting together books. It's an amazing passing-down of skills from century to century.

Saturday: "Resisting Normal" — The Third Place Gallery on Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis is run by photographer Wing Young Huie. He uses the gallery as a home for neighborhood events. On Saturday, Huie is hosting local poet Rebecca Dosch Brown who will be talking about and reading poetry on the construct of what's normal and what's not. It's followed by ping pong and karaoke.

Sunday: Red White Black and Blue: Uncharged at Guantánamo at the Bedlam Lowertown Theater — Performer Nathan Tylutki is bringing back his show about the 155 prisoners detained in the Guantánamo Bay facilities. The show uses first-person accounts and mixed media to talk about the legacy of Guantánamo. Bedlam Lowertown is a relatively new venue located right on the Green Line. The show on Sunday is at 7:30 p.m.
