Movie Maven Stephanie Curtis joins Steve Seel and Jill Riley to talk about the new film based on E.L. James' best-selling book. The film has already had record numbers of advance-ticket sales. "People aren't going alone, they're going with friends, with groups," Stephanie says. "It's a cultural phenomenon."

Fifty Shades of Grey follows Anastasia "Ana" Steele, a 21-year-old college student who interviews 27-year-old Christian Grey, a successful and wealthy young entrepreneur. From that meeting on, Christian and Ana enter into a new type of relationship.

"The movie is better than I thought it would be," Stephanie says. "It's a beautiful, sleek-looking movie that reflects the classy, classy world of Christian Grey. And it has a fantastic soundtrack."

Is Fifty Shades of Grey sexy? "No."

Listen to the complete review to hear Stephanie's thoughts on the actors' performances and about the translation of the book's dialogue from the printed page to the screen.

Fifty Shades of Grey is rated R and is playing at theaters everywhere.

MPR's Movie Maven, Stephanie Curtis, joins The Current's Morning Show to talk about films every Friday at 8:30 a.m.
