When it comes to making music, Angelica Garcia describes herself as a bit of a recluse. "I was just writing all these songs just for myself, by myself and for myself," Garcia says about creating the songs that would eventually become her 2016 album, Medicine for Birds.

The Current seized on the single, "Orange Flower," and Garcia is now touring in support of the album. On her first visit to the Twin Cities for a show at the 7th Street Entry, Garcia stopped at The Current for an in-studio session hosted by Sean McPherson.

Stepping away from Garage Band and into the life of a working musician has been a good experience for Garcia. "It's kind of pulled me a little bit out of my comfort zone," she says. "It's not just me playing now, I'm directing things and now I'm in front of everybody and like, 'Hey, how's it going?' It's still a little strange for me, but it's been great, and it's really helped me grow as a person."
