On Saturday night in Los Angeles, Lucasfilm held a star-studded premiere screening for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. One of the attendees was Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, who sat down on the red carpet with the spherical droid BB-8 in what Pitchfork rightly calls "an incredible moment for popular culture."

Josh Homme kicks photographer in the head

Queens of the Stone Age played KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas show on Saturday night in Inglewood, Calif. As Pitchfork reports, frontman Josh Homme exhibited "bizarre behavior" throughout the performance.

Homme allegedly took out a knife, cut himself in the head, and began bleeding. (The pro wrestling term for this is "blading.") He also yelled "f--- Muse" (ostensibly because the band headlined the show after QOTSA's set). At one point, he allegedly called the crowd "retards" and encouraged them to boo him.

At one point, Homme kicked a camera being used by photographer Chelsea Lauren. As described by Lauren, who went to a hospital to get her injuries treated, "his foot connects with my camera and my camera connects with my face, really hard. He looked straight at me, swung his leg back pretty hard and full-blown kicked me in the face."

Homme later publicly apologized, initially saying in a written statement that he didn't intend to hurt anyone and subsequently posting a video with a more personal apology. "I don't have any excuse or reason to justify what I did. I was a total dick," said an emotional Homme. "I'm going to have to figure out some stuff, I think."

Prince documentary gets green light

A judge has approved a deal authorizing a documentary about Prince. The film is being championed by Spotify's Troy Carter, an advisor to the estate, but some of Prince's heirs are not in favor of the project. Nonetheless, wrote the judge, the court would "be remiss in its fiduciary responsibility if it did not approve the transaction," which is expected to bring the estate a nine-figure sum. (Billboard)

Taylor Swift's Minnesota fans bummed by insider presale

Many of Taylor Swift’s biggest fans in Minnesota have been disappointed with the presale process for her 2018 show at U.S. Bank Stadium. As the Star Tribune reports,

Many die-hards and/or giving parents who got in on the singer's Verified Fan pre-sale program — ostensibly a means to fight ticket scalpers — faced the dilemma of paying $795 or $447 for VIP packages with tickets in prime locations, or else $87-$153 plus fees for seats in the upper reaches of the 65,000-capacity stadium.

Other fans were happier with the seats they found available.

First Ave is a top destination for Lyft

Lyft has announced its most popular dropoff destinations for the Twin Cities in 2017. First Avenue was the top "event space" in the Cities, and Surly Brewing — which hosts outdoor shows like this summer's Father John Misty gig — was named top "trending destination." The busiest bar dropoff is Cowboy Jack's, while the top restaurant is Hell's Kitchen. (Star Tribune)

Chance the weatherman

Chance the Rapper stopped by a Chicago TV station on Friday morning to support a holiday toy drive. While he was there, he helped deliver the weather forecast. At one point, he donned an "invisibility cloak" that made him disappear against the radar screen. "If I ever need to check out books at the Hogwarts library," he said, "now I can do that." (Billboard)
