There was something special about the Preservation Hall Jazz Band assembling late on a Sunday morning in October for a show at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. "We were just reminded a few moments ago that the first time that the Preservation Hall Jazz Band ever played a show outside of New Orleans was here in Minneapolis in 1963," Pres Hall creative director and bassist Ben Jaffe told the audience. "And the second show that the band ever played outside of New Orleans was in Minneapolis in 1964."

And if that wasn't enough, Jaffe was proud to announce that the person responsible for those 1960s shows, Dr. Henry Blackburn of the University of Minnesota, was present at the Dakota during the MicroShow. "It just reminds us that we're just walking in the footsteps of those who've come before," Jaffe remarked. "Thank you, Henry."

And with that, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band launched into a three-piece, joy-filled set as evidenced by the enthusiasm of the musicians and the engagement of the audience.
