Jack White plays the Armory in Minneapolis on Monday, Aug. 6. Ahead of that show, I invited Brian Oake to talk about our shared fandom of Jack White, as well as Brian's experience seeing Jack White perform at the Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta earlier this year.

Opinions have been mixed on Jack White's recent album, Boarding House Reach, but Brian says it requires more than a first listen. "I'm willing to give Jack White a pass when he gets experimental or weird and I'm willing to follow him on his artistic journey unlike other artists," Brian says. "I've always believed that he believes. I don't think he is a put-on artist; I don't think he's doing it just for the sake of being able to do it. I think that he really, really, really cares about the music he makes, so I don't think he would have released an album that he thought was just OK."

And if you've got tickets to Jack White's show at the Armory next Monday, it seems you can expect something very memorable. Just don't try to remember it on your smartphone.
