About the Contestants
Chris Riemenschneider has been covering the Twin Cities music scene for the Star Tribune since 2001, long enough for Prince to shout him out during "Play That Funky Music (White Boy)." The St. Paul native authored the book First Avenue: Minnesota's Mainroom and previously worked as a music critic at the Austin American-Statesman in Texas. Riemenschneider has also written for Rolling Stone, the Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News and Billboard.
Jessica Hopper is a music critic, producer and author based in Chicago. In a career spanning more than 20 years, Hopper has earned acclaim as a provocative, fearless music journalist. She is the author of the books The First Collection of Criticism By A Living Female Rock Critic and Night Moves. Her writing has appeared in GQ, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Elle, the Chicago Reader and Bookforum, among other outlets.
