In advance of Friday's release of the album, Blessed Boy, Minneapolis folk trio Good Morning Bedlam are releasing the title track as an exclusive Radio Heartland premiere. Listen to the new song in the audio player above. Mike Pengra will also debut the song Thursday on the Radio Heartland stream.

"This song is a tribute to those who take the hardships of life and find a way to make something beautiful," says Good Morning Bedlam guitarist Isaak Gill Elkes. "'Blessed Boy' is a song about a boy who decides he is going to fly to the moon to escape the pain of the world. However, on his way he falls in love with a rose. Instead of escaping the world he hates, he decides to stay and become a gardener and spends his life toiling over the earth and grows a beautiful garden."

On Friday, coinciding with the release of the album, Good Morning Bedlam will kick off an 11-date string of shows, including a performance at the Boats and Bluegrass festival in Winona, Minn., on September 24.

Although Good Morning Bedlam consider folk their primary genre, they are also inspired and influenced by pop, rock and jazz. Prior to the COVID-19 shutdown, the band took the first-place title at the 2019 John Hartford Memorial Festival Band Competition in Indiana as well as being finalists in that year's Northwest String Summit's Band Competition in Oregon.
