On Saturday, singer-songwriter and music producer Chris Bailey died. Bailey is best known as the frontman of the Australian punk band The Saints, whose 1976 hit "(I'm) Stranded" is considered one of the most influential punk songs in the history of the genre, released ahead of music by better-known acts the Damned, the Sex Pistols and the Clash. "This is punk rock as it should be," Jim Reid of the band The Jesus and Mary Chain has said. "[The Saints] kind of got passed over in Britain because they didn’t look right … but they were a band that were doing it for the right reasons; everyone else was trying to get a record deal. This record came out in 1976 — they beat the Pistols to it."

In 2001, the Australasian Performing Right Association listed “(I’m) Stranded” in its Top 30 Australian songs of all time.
