Last year, New Order played the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, and later this year, Jake Rudh will be joining legendary Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook at First Avenue in Minneapolis. What do Hook's two bands have in common? They both started on the famed Factory Records in Manchester, England. That's exactly why this Thursday on Transmission, Jake features that influential label -- not only Joy Division and New Order, but loads of others that called Factory their home base -- names you might know, like OMD and the Happy Mondays, to acts so underground you might be surprised they even made it out of the famed music city of Manchester. There would't be a Transmission without Joy Division, and Joy Division wouldn't be what they are or were without Factory Records. We celebrate that fact this week on the show.
