In 1987, the Irish band U2's album The Joshua Tree explored the difference between the myth and the reality of America, and it became the soundtrack of the year. Meanwhile, the Sunset Strip in L.A. was where rockers went to dream, and Guns N Roses delivered their studio debut, Appetite for Destruction. George Michael had "Faith"; Michael Jackson was "Bad"; and Whitney just wanted to dance with somebody.
