The Time Machine takes a short trip to 2008 this time. MySpace was still a force, accelerating the careers of Adele and Fleet Foxes. There were big debuts from MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver. Coldplay hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic. TV on the Radio's Dear Science was a critics' favorite. Slumdog Millionaire was one of the year's best films. Barack Obama became the USA's first Black president. Meanwhile, the U.S. economy faced the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. And the Boston Celtics won the NBA championship; Kevin Garnett finally got his ring. It's all 2008, our year on this installment of Time Machine Tuesday from The Current.
