Sunday morning on Radio Heartland on The Current, we’ll feature some new music from Humbird, Ana Egge, The Twins of Franklin and Jeffrey Martin. We’ll also lift a mug for Willie Nelson’s upcoming 91st birthday, and play a track from the new compilation record that pays tribute to author and songwriter Alice Randall called My Black Country.
For more than four decades the songwriter, New York Times best-selling author and acclaimed educator Alice Randall has been one of the few Black female writers on Nashville’s Music Row. On April 12, 2024, Oh Boy Records will release My Black Country, a collection of Randall’s most beloved songs as interpreted by some of the strongest Black female voices in modern country, roots and folk music.
