Since forming 15 years ago in London, Hot Chip have gained worldwide success with their six studio albums. Previously the band has stopped by our studios to play some of their own music in 2010 and most recently in 2012, but when they played the First Avenue mainroom last week in support of their latest Why Make Sense?, we instead asked them to take over our airwaves and to play songs by some of their favorite artists.

This isn't their first time at the radio rodeo. Felix Martin and Al Doyle (who were also joined by their tour manager Andrew Sweeney) had a late night program on Cambridge University's Cam FM while they were undergraduates. The shows might be released some day – Felix's dad recorded every episode to cassette tape.

On this edition of Theft of the Dial, you'll hear an artist that had a significant influence on Why Make Sense?, a track that Felix was reminded of as Hot Chip drove through Idaho and a couple of side projects including drummer Sarah Jones' Technology + Teamwork, plus an inside glimpse at Hot Chip's new record (including a description of what they refer to as a "musical doorbell").
