Joseph's new album, Good Luck, Kid, released last Friday, Sept. 13, and its lead single, "Fighter," is about how sometimes the best way through a conflict is to just have it out. "Not saying your truth just makes you further apart from each other," explains Joseph's Natalie Schepman. "And at some point, no matter how painful it may be, you have to say, 'You know what, this is actually what's going on …'

"And then when you move through that, you're closer," Schepman continues. "Because you've said the actual truth. You're bringing your present self. And I think that, honestly, it's one of the best human experiences you can have — maybe the best — to move through conflict and be on the other side of it."

Now on tour in support of the brand-new record, Joseph — the Oregon trio consisting of sisters Schepman, Allison Closner and Meegan Closner — are in town for a show at First Avenue. Before the concert, Joseph stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Mac Wilson.

"Fighter," the members of Joseph explain, comes from their own experience with conflict. "This [song] in particular is just really special to us because we've been through a lot together," Schepman says, "and to have a song to memorialize the efforts we put into keeping this thing going and staying reconciled together is really meaningful to me, so yeah, we wanted to share that with everybody."
