Over the weekend of May 15 to 17, The Current hosted Sounds Like Home: a virtual festival of Minnesota music. You can find all the performances archived on The Current's Facebook page, and they'll also be archived one by one right here on our website. Thanks to the Minnesota Legacy Amendment Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund for allowing The Current to compensate artists for their performances.

Born and bred into a musical family — Boblett's parents met while playing in the same band — Faith Boblett's upbringing was filled with songwriting. Since releasing her first album Oil & Water, this Minnesota native has been a relentless member of the burgeoning folk and rock scene. Outside of her solo work, Boblett has worked with an expansive list of local projects like Nick Costa, Fathom Lane, Deleter, American Housewife, Blue Green, Paperilo, Jackson & The Roosters, and XIII Arrows.

Between the five years of her freshman LP and her 2018 release Enough, Boblett's songcraft evolved immensely. Enough plays more with genre and structure, plus her lyricism feels much more impervious and bold. "Take me out of the box, build me how you want," she sternly declares on "Clay," the lead single of the record; swampy, blues guitar reverberating in the background. Her evolution and adaptations as an artist should inspire any aspiring musician: Boblett is an artist who is unencumbered by the trials and tribulations of the music industry.

Faith Boblett has recently dropped "Ugly Things", which will headline her third full-length record. The song is scathing and packs the kind of potent punch new listeners will come to expect.

Boblett performed three songs as part of The Current's Sounds Like Home virtual music festival.
