The popular Netflix series Peaky Blinders is a period crime drama set in Birmingham, England, in the early 20th century. It stars Cillian Murphy the fierce Tommy Shelby, the ruthless leader of the Peaky Blinders gang. The sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders is airing now in the U.K., and it will premiere on Netflix in the United States on June 10.
Although the action of the TV series Peaky Blinders is set in the 1920s, the soundtrack is deliberately anachronistic, lending the program a modern edginess by including music by such artists as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Cash, Radiohead and PJ Harvey. “The Peaky Blinders story and the music we use are twins, born at the same time,” show creator Steven Knight said in a statement. “It would be difficult to imagine most of the pivotal moments without the soundtrack."
That soundtrack is being released in a three-LP set that features 49 songs that have been featured throughout the run of Peaky Blinders. Even though the soundtrack won't be released until May 27, we can celebrate the music today. So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs from Peaky Blinders do you want to hear?
