July 12, 2022
One of the last live interviews we did in the Radio Heartland studios in the late winter of 2020 was with local folksingers Charlie Maguire and Pop Wagner. At that time, they were promoting an evening of Woody Guthrie music at a local establishment. Enter COVID. Now, here we are, midway through 2022 and whaddya know? Charlie and Pop are at it again, and are back in our studio!
Woody Guthrie would be 110 this week, and to celebrate, the boys are back at Crooners in Fridley, Minn., this Saturday evening for a night of Guthrie music and readings. They stopped at Radio Heartland to talk about Woody’s huge influence on American folk music and life, and why his music never gets old.
