Today is Nile Rodgers’ 70th birthday! The musician/record producer/composer is well known as the co-founder of the band Chic. However, Rodgers wrote and produced for many other artists. He produced several major albums and singles for other artists, including David Bowie's Let's Dance, "Original Sin" by INXS, Duran Duran's "The Reflex" and "Notorious", and Madonna's "Like a Virgin". He later worked with artists including The B-52s, Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, Grace Jones, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, and Daft Punk. He is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a three-time Grammy Award–winner, and the chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Rolling Stone wrote in 2014 that "the full scope of Nile Rodgers' career is still hard to fathom", but we are going to try. Let’s celebrate Nile Rodgers’ contribution to the music industry. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs from the mind of Nile Rodgers do you want to hear?
