by Jill Riley and Rachel Frances
November 14, 2022
Nominations for the 2023 Grammys will be announced tomorrow, November 15. The 2023 Grammys will air live on Sunday, February 5 from Los Angeles. There are some exciting new changes to the upcoming awards. This past summer, The Recording Academy announced five new Grammy Awards categories. The new categories include Songwriter Of The Year, Non-Classical, Best Americana Performance, Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games And Other Interactive Media, Best Spoken Word Poetry Album, and Best Alternative Music Performance. Alternative music has been given a lot more recognition in the past few years at the Grammys. 2022 Grammy winners and nominees included Glass Animals, Japanese Breakfast, St. Vincent, Yola, and Brandi Carlile. This year’s nominees may include many more artists like these given the new Alternative category and representation in the Best New Artist category at the Grammys in recent years.
In anticipation for the nomination announcement, let’s look back at last year’s Grammys and highlight some nominees and winners. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs from artists recognized at the 2022 Grammy Awards do you want to hear?
