On this day in 1976, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” hit no. 1 on the UK singles chart. In the United States, the song peaked at number nine that year, but reached a new peak of number two after appearing in the 1992 film Wayne's World. Over the years, movies have brought classic songs back to the charts after being featured in iconic scenes, like the use of The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody” in the film Ghost. Other revived songs have been featured in the movie title itself, like Stand by Me and My Girl.

Back in 1986, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off brought The Beatles’ “Twist and Shout” back to the Hot 100 for the first time in 23 years. More recently, Nirvana’s “Something in the Way” hit multiple charts after the release of the 2022 movie The Batman.

These examples are a few of many that prove the power of music in film. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that re-entered the charts after being featured in a movie?
