It was on this date, July 18, that the very first Lollapalooza festival kicked off in 1991. Launched by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, Lolla has taken many forms over the years. In its original incarnation, it was a traveling festival that wrapped that summer at Harriet Island in St. Paul on August 1.

The lineup that year was legendary: Jane's Addiction, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Living Colour, Nine Inch Nails Ice-T & Body Count, Butthole Surfers, and Rollins Band. Let’s spend today steeped in some nostalgia for flannel, goth gear, Doc Martens, and psychedelia.

For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, which songs by bands from Lollapalooza ‘91 do you want to hear?
