This week, Minnesotans have been encouraged to submit their own designs for the next state flag and seal, as the state seeks a more unifying symbol to represent it. Not only do flags represent states, countries, and territories, but they often symbolize culture, history and ideals.

The State Emblems Redesign Commission will be accepting these public submissions on its website until Jan. 1, 2023.
