Legendary rock ‘n’ roll guitarist and singer Chuck Berry was born on this day in 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri. He died at age 90 in 2017. Coined as the “Father of Rock and Roll,” Berry is written in history as a legendary showman and musician for his prominence starting in the 1950s and influence across music today.

Known most for the track “Johnny B. Goode” and other iconic guitar riff-filled songs, Berry refined early rhythm and blues music into the classic rock sound that we all love so much today. He pioneered flashy guitar solos and was one of the first musicians to popularize the duck walk, as he was often televised as he toured the country.

Let’s take some time to appreciate what Chuck Berry has done for music by listing his songs — whether it’s him performing them, or covers by other artists.
