This morning, we’re taking a break from the spooky Coffee Breaks to recognize Public Radio Music Day — a day we all should be holding near and dear to our hearts.

Led by the noncomMUSIC Alliance, Public Radio Music Day is a nationwide celebration highlighting the contributions of public radio stations to music education, artist discovery, and the preservation to the local music culture with the theme ”Building Community Through Music.”

Think back to all the music/artists you’ve come across listening to The Current — whether it be newer popular artists, or your favorite deep cuts — feel free to share your favorite discoveries from tuning in.

For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, which artists have you discovered because of non-commercial radio?

Today is Public Radio Music Day, a coordinated day when stations across the country share the importance of public support and the service these stations provide to the communities they serve. Public radio music stations amplify vibrant music ecosystems locally and nationally by supporting local and regional musicians, developing emerging artists, showcasing national touring acts, promoting local events and venues, and celebrating multiple musical genres. Noncommercial music is only found on public radio. See how public radio music stations are shaping the music world by following non-comm-music-alliance on social media.
