Top 10 Songs of 2023

Masego – “What You Wanna Try”

This year Masego released his album Masego and I got the opportunity to write a concert review for Carbon Sound when he was in town back in March. Definitely one of the most memorable moments of the year for me, since I am a big fan and the show was truly incredible.

Feid – “Vente Conmigo”

Colombian artist Feid has won me over this year. I love how he explores with different sounds like reggaeton, afrobeat, and house. Check out “Bubalu” featuring Rema, too.

Jessie Ware – “Lightning”

For a moment this year, I was absolutely obsessed with this song. That is all.

Naomi Sharon – “Definition of Love”

Naomi Sharon released her album Obsidian and I was an instant fan. If you love artists like Sade, check her out.

PinkPantheress  –  “Another Life” feat. Rema

PinkPantheress released her debut album Heaven Knows, but I was already a big fan. This specific song has been on repeat for me since the album came out.

Sampha – “Only”

I love Sampha so much I could cry. This year he released his album Lahai, and it’s just so beautiful and magical.

Karol G – “Mañana Será Bonito”

This entire Karol G album, of the same name, (which translates to “Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful”) really helped me through some tough times this year. I love how she makes fun music with a message of positivity.

Cleo Sol – “Self”

We were blessed in 2023 to have two albums by Cleo Sol. Heaven, and shortly after, Gold. The perfect music to start your day super chill and calm.

MMYYKK – “U Got Me”

MMYYKK released his album The Midst of Things, and seeing him live was another highlight of my year. Such an incredible artist right here in the Twin Cities.

Movimiento Original – “Amor & Paz” feat. Micro TDH

Legendary Chilean hip-hop group Movimiento Original released this collaboration with Venezuelan artist Micro TDH. It has been on constant repeat.

Honorable mentions

Ozuna, Davido – “Eva Longoria”

Tainy, Bad Bunny – “"Mojabi Ghost”

Victoria Monét – “On My Mama”

Davido – “Unavailable” feat. Musa Keys

Peso Pluma, Eslabon Armado – “Ella Baila Sola”
