Happy National Ballpoint Pen Day! Although it seem normal to us now, the ballpoint pen revolutionized communication. Before its creation, if you wanted to get your “point” across using written word you had to break out your handy quill or a pencil. That all changed when brothers Laszlo and Gyorgy Biro filed a patent for the new device back on June 10, 1943, ushering in a brand new — and easier — style of connection for us all.

You can celebrate National Ballpoint Pen Day by writing a letter to someone, drawing a picture, or requesting a song for today’s coffee break. And don’t forget to use the hashtag #BallPointPenDay when you share your creations on social media. :D

So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs about messages or communication would you like to hear?
