This week on Good News on The Current, we feature a story from a listener who is also a freelance writer for The Current. Macie Rasmussen describes why a certain song by LCD Soundsystem is especially important to her.
Introducing Good News, a weekly series about music making the world a better place“All My Friends” by LCD Soundsytem means a lot to me because I remember, during COVID lockdown, watching a YouTube video of the band playing live (years prior), and I became emotional because I missed my friends very much. Then when I went to Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City this past May, I saw LCD Soundsystem, and it felt special to dance with my friends as James Murphy sang, “You spend the first five years trying to get with the plan, and the next five years trying to be with your friends again.”
Whenever I hear that song, it reminds me to tell my friends I appreciate them, ask them how they're doing, and suggest we meet up.
The importance of connecting is so important. Thank you, Macie, for sharing this beautiful story. Maybe this inspires you to text a friend you are thinking about now, boost their mood or as you think of them in the moment.
Here’s Macie’s Good News track — it’s LCD Soundsystem with “All My Friends.”
